What is Art?
The skill or ability to produce beautiful items, installations and artifacts, utilizing artistic design, creative works such as Painting, Sculpture, Music and Dance i.e. that endeavor, which brings an audience or a spectator in touch with their real self or essential life force.
What is Performing Art?
Any form of art in which an artist takes a central part on a stage or public platform, potrayed in a unique way, to bring about a conscious state of being of those present e.g. Music, Drama and Dance.
What is Non- performing Arts?
Those art forms that are executed by individuals and artists and produce artifacts and work involving, creativity, skill and expertise and have the elements of original works and are imbued with a special quality of life force in conception and execution.
What is Fine Arts?
Defined in Arts, usually relating to skills portrayed in Painting, Drawing and Sculpture and is not classified as utilitarian or functional objects but aim to elevate the state of being to consciousness when engaging in these works.
What is Craft?
Those creative artifacts also classified as art, which have a unique nature but are also functional i.e. pottery, fabric painting and jewellery.
What are Crafters?
These are those individuals who create the above artifacts as a way of life and are integral to their activities.
What are Artists?
Those individuals who through a specialized skill or talent portray their unique ability in a public environment, platform or create artifacts that enhance and change our perceptions to a conscious state.
What are Arts Centres?
These are accessible venues that host, nurture and promote the publicās creative and cultural gifts and creative art forms. A place that has community participation as well as being a source of inspiration, exploration for developing Artists and Art forms to greater clarity and catalytic impetus. A venue that acts as a conduit for emerging artists, to showcase and develop their talents.
If one is talented in any form of art or has formal training in it, how can the Department of Arts, Culture and Tourism assist one in making turning this into a career?

What is the Identify, Develop and Promote Programme (IDP)?
This Department is mandated to hold Arts and Cultural shows within the Clusters for a purpose of identifying those people or groups that have talent so that they can be assisted to develop their talents. The department then promotes them and even secure markets for them where their products can be sold.
