The KwaZulu-Natal Department of Arts and Culture will officially open Bruntville Library in Mooi River tomorrow, 3 November 2017, and also hand it over to Mpofana Local Municipality on the same day. The facility which was initially just a one room, has been upgraded to a multi-functional structure with free internet access, educational toys, gaming, books, a reading area and group activities room.
Construction was completed early this year and has already started servicing the public. The department has already transferred funds for the library’s operational cost. Additional staff members will be appointed by the local municipality.
KZN DAC’s mandate includes providing equitable access to information through the provision of public library facilities across the province. It does this by building new structures, renovating and upgrading existing library buildings.
